Oldest Resident Dies

Mrs. Elizabeth J. Fay, Williamsburg’s oldest and most highly esteemed resident, died at her home on Plum Street at the age of 85. Mrs. Fay was the daughter of the late Judge Samuel and Anna Stewart Dean. She was one of the last four remaining grandchildren of John Dean who escaped the Indian massacre of the Matthew Dean Family in Canoe Valley in 1780. Mrs. Fay was also the granddaughter of Judge David Stewart who sat on the bench in Huntingdon county for more than thirty years.
