Oil and gas rights to most of the farmland in northern Bedford County and southern Blair County were leased to Amoco Production Co. of Houston. The leases were negotiated over the past few months and were being recorded in the courthouses in Bedford and Hollidaysburg. In Bedford County 687 leases were filed and 350 in Blair County.

Mrs. Ruth Crumrine, Mrs. Lorraine Sheeler, Mrs. Joyce Hoover, Mrs. Regina Itle, and Miss Sharon Stewart were hired to fill teaching vacancies in the Spring Cove School district.
