Bedford Fair Opens

Joie Chitwood’s Hell Drivers was the opening entertainment for the Bedford County Fair. The Grand Stand Folies of 1947 with “25 beautiful girls from the Roxy Theater in New York City” and other popular vaudeville acts were scheduled to perform as well.

Attorney William Hicks, a native of Williamsburg, died at his home in Tyrone. He was born in 1856 and attended the Williamsburg public school, the Williamsburg academy and a private school of mathematics and languages conducted by J. A. Stewart.
