Cove Cause for Cancer Looking for 'Cove's Got Talent' Participants

Cove Cause for Cancer is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation. Its mission is “to be a strong support to all patients and families on Cancer Journeys, and to help find cures for all types of cancer.”

Cove Cause for Cancer began its grassroots effort as the area’s first non-profit organization with the main focus of raising funds to help support local members of our communities who are going through a Cancer Journey and need extra financial support. The support for the patients is gained through connections with the Bob Perks Fund and Voucher Programs through UPMC Hillman Cancer Treatment Center of Altoona. On top of that, a portion of the funds is also donated to Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute for Breast Cancer Research.

Rebekah Disney is an upcoming senior at Central High School who wants to support her community through this wonderful organization as part of her senior project. To that end, Cove Cause for Cancer is in the midst of preparing for its third Party in the Park event at the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park on Aug. 20. She is looking for individuals or groups of all ages who are interested in participating in Cove’s Got Talent.

This competition will take place on Aug. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. and registration is due by July 31. Disney hopes readers will help spread the word and participate. She values any support offered to the cause because this event will raise funds to support local patients going through their Cancer Journey.
