Minister Passes Away

Elder Samuel B. Furry, an aged resident of this area and prominent minister of the Brethren church, died at the home of his son, Rev. John E. Furry in South Martinsburg. He was a teacher and farmer and also a regular contributor to the Christian Family Companion, edited and published by Elder H. R. Holsinger at Tyrone.

John D. Walker of Claysburg, charged with killing John Weyandt, his brother-in-law, was found dead in his cot in the Hollidaysburg jail. Death was caused by a convulsion.

The Blair County Fair was scheduled for August 15 through 18 at the Altoona Driving Park. The Blair County Grangers planned to unveil a bronze tablet dedicated to the memory of Prof. Henry Wertz, the first superintendent of the fair.

The Mines correspondent reported that many Mines residents attended the concert given by the Loysville Orphan’s Home in Williamsburg.
