Rooms Rates Increasing

Herald of August 5, 1972

Nason Hospital was increasing its room rates by $5 a day effective August 1. The rates increased to $63 a day for a private room, $54 or $56 for a two-bed semi-private room, $53 for a four bed room, and $29 for nursery care.

The bankrupt Penn Central Railroad announced plans to abandon the Curryville Spur railroad. The railroad considered the line redundant but the main user of the railroad, Agway, said that they were shipping well above the minimum number of carloads required. Local officials feared the Martinsburg line would be cut next.
