Memorial Park's Community Appreciation Day Upcoming

Morrisons Cove Memorial Park will be hosting the annual W. Gene Henry Community Appreciation Day on Sunday, Sept. 4, on the park grounds.

Admission to the Hershberger Memorial Pool is free, as well as bowling at the Huntsman Lanes and roller skating in the Zach Hinish gym.

The pool will open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Free bowling runs from a noon opening until 6 p.m. and the shaking rink is open for free public skating from 1 to 4 p.m.

This will be the fourth year in a row that the park has opened its doors to the public for this free community event.

Executive Director Chuck Gojmerac said, “Morrisons Cove Memorial Park appreciates the increased patronage by our community members over the past several years. The Board of Directors have made a conscious effort to continually improve our facility. That can be seen directly this year with two new A/C and heating units in the gym, a new dual turbo twister slide at the pool and a new boiler unit to heat the pool water.”

Gojmerac continued, “The park has decided to honor the late W. Gene Henry in providing this free day of service to our community, a community in which Mr. Henry has loved until he breathed his last breath. He is given so much back to the Martinsburg area, this is something that we can give back too while honoring him.”

All items at the pool snack bar will sell for $1 each or less.
