Roaring Spring
Rosella Furry, 100, of Roaring Spring, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, joining her loved ones in Heaven.
She was born July 14, 1922, in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Levi and Anna Naomi (Hainley) Albright. On March 28, 1948, she married Jay W. Furry. He passed away May 1, 2012.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Virginia Albright of Roaring Spring; two granddaughters: Gina Albright and Gail Helsel, both of Roaring Spring; a grandson, Gerald R. Albright Jr. and wife, Bobbi, of Martinsburg; and three great-grandsons: David Helsel, and Thad and Brady Albright.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Albright, who passed away July 1, 2019; a brother, Russell, who passed away in 1988; and a sister, Ruth Croft, who passed away in 1966.
She retired from Roaring Spring Blank Book in 1989 after 50 years of service and was a member of Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring, where she was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was a previous member of the Ladies Auxiliaries for the American Legion and the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.
Rosella’s family was the most important thing that she enjoyed all her life. She was devoted to her husband, Jay, and was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Rose would do anything and everything she could do for her family. She loved traveling and doing needlepoint.
A funeral was held Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, in the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring (thompsonfh.com). Pastor Steve DiBiase officiated. Interment was made in Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rosella’s memory may be given to the Bare Memorial Church of God.
