Lions Bring Leader Dog Fundraiser to Williamsburg

Mary Camberg of Altoona shares the 2021 graduation poster of the Leader Dogs. The Leader Dog has been in partnership with the Lions Club for 80 years. Camberg is currently the Leader Dog representative for the district and spoke with the Lions on Sept. 12.

Mary Camberg of the Lakemont Lions Club visited with the Williamsburg Lions Club during Monday evening's meeting to talk about the Leader Dog Program. Camberg has been with the Leader Dog Program with the Lions for over six years.

With the Leader Dog Program, anyone can sponsor a dog or "adopt" a puppy for 12 months and raise it. Following those 12 months, the Leader Dog Program takes over with the dog and they become a service animal through a rigorous training program in Michigan. Typically, these dogs go on to work with the blind, which is one of the Lions Club's biggest causes. If they...
