South Woodbury Township Sign Debate Ongoing

Supervisors met on Sept. 6 at 9 a.m. The treasurer's report ending Aug. 31, 2022, was approved as read.

The PennDOT liquid fuels audit was completed. A report upcoming.

Roadmaster Rick Musselman reported he worked on roads for Texas Corner and Golden Rule Road.

Keller Engineers was present to discuss a bid for the T-561 Golden Rule Drive culvert replacement project that was done in the spring. Qualifications were changed on the qualifications for bidding. This opens it up to new bidding being advertised. Bids will be opened at the next meeting, which is Oct. 4, at 9 a.m.

Harold Zimmerman was present to discuss the subdivision of land. He divided his land with Scott D. Baker. Zimmerman wants to do a subdivision of three acres of land. This has been approved providing Zimmerman obtains a Highway Occupancy Plan or a HOP.

Vicky Defibaugh was present to discuss final land development plan. She will be building a house in the Texas Corner Area and supervisors approved the plan providing the driveway is raised a little so she can be seen easily by oncoming cars.

Solar panel draft ordinance was reviewed by attorney and the draft will remain as one document for business or residential. This new ordinance will be advertised and a public meeting on this will be held on Oct. 4 at 9 a.m.

The Southern Cove Rod and Gun Club has a sign for their establishment, and this has been an ongoing controversy with the township. The township states the sign causes a problem for them to clearly see traffic, especially when they are plowing the roads. They would like to see this sign relocated or have them replace it with a green sign on a pole. A letter was center addressing this issue.

The Bedford County Township Officials Association Convention will be held on Oct. 17, at Alum Bank Fire Hall.

The PennDOT ECMS agreement and resolution was approved. This will enable documents to be exchanged electronically.

The proposed budget for the township was reviewed and was approved once it is advertised. This will have a final approval next month.

Aging accounts for wastewater were reviewed and letters were sent out.

Smoke testing repairs were reviewed. Some homes have drainpipes going into the sewer. Letters will be sent to homeowners who did not pass the smoke testing.

Next meeting will be Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. at the township building.
