Hershberger Places Top Seven

Leah Hershberger of Bedford County placed in the top seven overall in the 56th Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Coronation. She also won honorable mention in the Dairy Knowledge contest and was a runner-up in the scrapbook and radio spot.

Claysburg was getting ready for a history tour with storytellers, reenactors and other volunteers preparing for their parts. A bus tour to visit local sites was sold out, but those without bus tickets could still visit the Claysburg Legion for local history displays, food, and the Homecoming parade.

Emergency responders in the East Freedom area had a busy week. Two people lost their lives in two unrelated incidents. A 23-year-old Duncansville woman died in a traffic accident on Route 36, and a male was found dead in a building in Freedom Township. Also, a trailer fire destroyed a home in the Blair Mobile Home Court, and three purse snatchings were reported.
