Lots of Red Ears

Farmers are husking corn.Will there be any husking bees this season with lots of red ears in the shock? These old-time enjoyable affairs should not be allowed to fall into disuse.

There is no truth in the report that silver was discovered at Hyndman. The men who are boring a well for the Hyndman Water Company stated that the drill they were using penetrated a solid 20-foot vein of fire clay.

Mrs. Sannie F. Klepser, wife of Dr. R. C. Klepser, Altoona, died of tuberculosis after an illness of six weeks. Deceased’s maiden name was Oellig and she was born in Woodbury, Nov. 5, 1879.

Seventy-two employees of the 75 employees at the Clover Creek Limestone Company below Williamsburg struck on Tuesday morning against a reduction in the price of blasting and loading limestone. Other quarries were paying 16 ½ cents per ton while the Clover Creek Company was paying 11 cents. The men were making more working at day wages.
