The Greenfield Township Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of new phones and modems for the township office and police department at their regular monthly meeting on Oct. 4.
The new equipment, to be installed by Crowsnest Broadband, will allow the township secretary to transfer calls directly to the police department rather than having to tell callers to hang up and call back to select a different number, among other new features.
The move comes a month after supervisors voted to switch internet service providers to Crowsnest as part of cost saving and upgrading measures.
By switching phone, internet and fax service plans, the township will pay a combined $618 per month, according to Ami Fether, township secretary-treasurer, a savings of over $400 per month compared to their previous telecommunication plans through a different provider.
Trick or Treat has been set for Oct. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The board discussed the possibility of Churchview Circle transitioning from a privately maintained road to a township-maintained road.
The police department received 125 calls for service during the month of September, Ronald Sharkey, police chief, reported. The department has received 1,071 calls year-to-date.
Supervisors adjourned to a closed-door session to discuss police personnel issues to conclude the meeting.
