Denny Shoemaker: "This photo was taken in the morning May 6 in Monument Valley Arizona, best sunrise of the week. I spent ten days in Arizona, and four of them were here in Monument Valley. This is a Navajo reservation. On the horse is Julius Chee a Navajo and my friend. This is his home right here. His grandmother and mother live there also. His grandmother is 86 and only speaks Navajo. His mother Mary speaks Navajo and English. This tour with Pete Lerro of Lerro Photography made shots like this possible. I went with Lerro to Yosemite in February also. Doing these photo workshops allows me to get opportunities that I could never get on my own. There are usually eight photographers in the group."
