D. Merl Tipton Post 43 Auxiliary and Boy Scouts Troop 3358 to Conduct Flag Retirement Ceremony

Boy Scouts burn worn-out flags according to statutes in the U.S. Flag Code at a previous flag retirement event in the Cove.

The Auxiliary of the D. Merl Tipton VFW Post 43 and Boy Scout Troop 3358 will again conduct a Flag Retirement Ceremony on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at 6 p.m., at the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park in the area directly behind the cattle barns. The ceremony should last no longer than 30 minutes.

The Flag Code states that a national flag that is worn beyond repair is to be burned in a fire. The ceremony should be conducted with dignity and respect and the flag burned completely to ashes.
