Cove Experiences Freeze

The Cove experienced the “most damaging fall freeze of the last 24 years” according to Edwin Bridenbaugh. Fruit was still on the trees when a low of 19 degrees was recorded, causing considerable damage to the apple harvest.

Ralph W. Imler, 52, of New Enterprise was pronounced dead at Tyrone Hospital after the pickup truck he was riding in failed to make a sharp turn on the Janesville Pike. Imler was returning home from work with two of his brothers when the accident occured. The other passengers were not injured.
