Hurricane Sandy spared the Cove from the damage she caused in other areas along the East Coast. High winds in the area led to downed trees and power outages, but no significant damage.

Turnout for the upcoming presidential election was expected to be “huge”. The candidates were Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan on the Republican side, and Barack Obama and Joe Biden for the Democrats.
