Cornerstone Put Into Place

The cornerstone of the new Homewood Retirement Center was put into place during a ceremony conducted at the construction site on a knoll just west of Martinsburg. The stone was solid with nothing placed inside it.

Nason Hospital appointed J. Calvin Lang III of Roaring Spring and Atty. Clyde O. Black II of Hollidaysburg to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Lang was a corporate officer and administrator at Roaring Spring Blank Book Co. Atty. Black was a member of the law firm of Patterson, Evey, Routch and Black.

The Milton Corle family of Martinsburg RD2 was chosen as the 1972 Blair County Farm Family of the Year. Mr. Corle and his wife Berneda had two sons and three daughters. They lived on a 225 acre farm along Clover Creek.

The Williamsburg ground rent of $1 per year, which applied to about 100 lots in the original part of town, was due to be paid to Helen E. Allender, Agent for the descendants of Jacob Ake, founder of the town.
