The Marketing and Program Committee of the Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership (HACP) discussed a number of ways to promote Hollidaysburg businesses and the area at its October monthly Board of Directors meeting.
The pumpkin carving contest for Pumpkinfest has 17 merchants participating. Flyers for the contest will be at the HACP table, board member, Becki Hollen will have the information for the Partnership booth. HACP will be selling chances for a restaurant gift card board. Chances are $5 each with proceeds going to the Women’s Club and the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Department.
The HACP would like to make a video of downtown Hollidaysburg. Becki Hollen spoke with Joe Glass, who is willing to create the video. The HACP will partner with the Hollidaysburg Borough in the making of the video. The motion to allocate up to $2,000 to create the promotional videography for the partnership was passed unanimously.
The committee also discussed having additional activities on the 200 and 400 blocks of Allegheny Street during Winterfest. Suggestions were made for a magician, another musical act, and handing out hot chocolate. The topic will be revisited at next month’s meeting.
The HACP newsletters will be distributed the second Friday of every month.
Becki Hollen was recognized for the great job she had done during the Member Mixer. Approximately 30 people were in attendance. The feedback was positive and new committee members were recruited and two new members.
A progressive dinner, a new event, was discussed. The suggestion was made to hold a quarterly mixer. Board member Don Delozier suggested HACP host a mixer in December, possibly at Mimosa Inn. Mandy Baker made a motion to budget $250 per mixer. It passed unanimously.
Member benefits in the partnership were finalized and member packets will be hand delivered. Each year, there will be reminders sent out of member benefits. Memberships will be charged starting Jan. 1.
There are three candidates for the marketing director opening at the partnership. An interview committee was composed and interviews were held Monday, Oct. 24 at Keller Engineers.
It was suggested that an electronic vote be instilled for the new marketing director based off the recommendation of the interview committee so there would be no waiting until the Nov. 11 board meeting. The new director should attend the next board meeting.
There will be a marketing meeting on Nov. 2 and a monthly board of directors meeting on Nov. 11.
