How to Store Your Produce Through the Winter

Among the many options for safe winter storage of produce in the Cove, Mason jars can keep things fresh. It can help to have an in-ground vegetable cave or root cellar as well.

This past growing season was one with a little too much rain and little too much dry, but by and large, a look around any farmer's stand is proof positive that most crops provided a bountiful harvest.

The potato and apple bins are overflowing and the tables are piled high with beautiful solid cabbages and onions.

Keeping the produce in good shape in the hopes of stretching it far into the cold winter months can be a challenging task, one that requires work as the veg is harvested and later with visits to the storage area to root out potential problems.
