Dragon Football Dominates In Regular Season Finale

The Central Dragon Football team faced the Somerset Golden Eagles in week ten of the regular season. An unsurpassed air attack left the Dragons in complete control of the game, attaining a 47-14 victory for Senior Night.

The Dragons received the kickoff to start the game, and within the very first minute, Jeff Hoenstine threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Shalen Yingling to give the Dragons an early lead. After a defensive stop, the Dragons pushed up field once again to score with a three-yard run by Kade Rhule. Before the end of the quarter, Honestine pitched a one-yard pass to Eli Lingenfelter for another score for the Dragons. After another defensive stop, Hoenstine chucked a 70-yard pass to Lingenfelter at the start of the second quarter for another Dragon touchdown. The Dragons' reserves gave up a touchdown shortly after, but the Dragons' offense pushed for another scoring drive before the half ended. This occurred with a three-yard touchdown reception by Lingenfelter with mere seconds left to give the Dragons a 34-7 advantage at half.

The Dragons completed two more scoring drives before retiring the starters for the rest of the game. The first with a 68-yard pass to Lingenfelter, and the second with a 23-yard pass to Rhule. The Dragons' auxiliary gave up another touchdown in the fourth quarter, but their lead was unsurpassable and ended with the inevitable: an overwhelming Dragon victory.

Hoenstine completed 18 of 25 passes for 315 passing yards of the Dragons' 370 total yards. Lingenfelter caught eight passes for 207 yards, and while Rhule only had three rushes throughout the game, he accumulated 32 yards from them. Ending the regular season with a record of 8-2, the Dragons will now travel to face the Tyrone Eagles in the first round of the District Six AAA playoffs.
