Martinsburg Borough Council formally annexed the 35-acre tract west of the borough where the new Homewood Retirement Center was under construction. Homewood made the request months earlier, but legal issues delayed the annexation.

Bill Lewis, 14, was seriously injured in the football game between Spring Cove and Huntingdon Junior High on Nov. 1. He suffered a ruptured spleen while blocking in the initial kick-off but did not take himself out of the game until the end of the first quarter.
