RS Woman Charged in Husband's Shooting

A nearly two-year investigation into the shooting of a Newry man has resulted in charges being filed against the woman who admitted to pulling the trigger but claimed at the time it was in self-defense.

According to Freedom Township police, on Jan. 31, 2021, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police were called to a home along Shamrock Lane, Newry, after Santana Laret, 37, now of Roaring Spring, called the Blair County 911 Center and claimed her husband was beating her.
