Harold P. “Peat” Hoover, 84, of Roaring Spring, passed away Friday Nov. 4, 2022, at home.

He was born Dec. 2, 1937, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Ross and Mary (Stoner) Hoover. He married Linda Teeter April 8, 1962 at Holsinger Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, five children, Chris (Paula), Wade (Jaylene), Lee (Kim), Brent (Melonie) and Crystal (Timothy), six grandchildren Dustin, Phillip, Rachel, Shayla, Dominic and Gabriel, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, six brothers Gene, Glenn, Dale, Max, Gary Lee and Myron and a sister Karol. He was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Lawrence and two sisters Darlene and Dottie.

Harold was a 1955 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School and served in the United States Army. He retired as a certified welder from Appleton Papers in 2000.

Peat was a member of the Holsinger Church of the Brethren and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring, with full military honors. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November, 10, 2022, at the Holsinger Church of the Brethren, 2737 Lafayette Rd., New Enterprise, PA 16664 with Pastor Paul R. Snyder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his church or your local humane society.
