C-K Students Attend PA FBLA State Leadership Workshop

Twenty-three FBLA members and five middle-level members of Claysburg-Kimmel's Future Business Leaders of America chapter traveled to the Kalahari Resort in the Poconos Saturday, Oct. 29, to attend the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Workshop.

Members spent the first day relaxing and enjoying the water park rides and amenities. Students also spent the day networking with students from other chapters across the state.

The State Leadership Workshop kicked off on Sunday, Oct. 30, with the opening session and keynote speaker, Patrick Grady. During the opening session, students and advisers also heard the latest updates about FBLA.

Pennsylvania FBLA highlighted the accomplishments and success stories from last year. Bailey Garver, Rebekah Claar and Aidan Barr were recognized for their sixth-place finish in Community Service Project from the National Leadership Conference in Chicago. Claysburg-Kimmel was also recognized as a national Gold Seal Chapter.

For the next four hours, members had the opportunity to choose from numerous leadership workshops offered by the State Officer Team, PA FBLA Management team, and TRI Leadership Resources. Workshops ranged from leadership, entrepreneurship, college and career, communication, marketing, creativity, business etiquette, ethics, personal finance, public speaking, and more.

That evening, members participated in the Charity Walk to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Members also had the opportunity to relax and have fun during FBLA's Private "After Hours Event" strictly for PA FBLA members and advisers.

On Monday, Oct. 31, students attended more educational workshops and participated in the charity basket auction for Make-A-Wish. The closing session ended at noon. Emma Gill was awarded second place for individual fundraising for Make-A-Wish, raising $250. Claysburg-Kimmel was awarded first place for Chapter Fundraising for Make-A-Wish, raising $1,000.
