A Claysburg man is behind bars after police said he physically and sexually abused a young boy beginning when the child was eight years old.
William Dale Richardson, 52, is facing felony charges on involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, and intimidation to refrain from reporting as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault and terroristic threats after police were notified by Blair County Children and Family Services about the possible assault of a child.
According to Greenfield Township police, on Sept. 16, police interviewed the now 12-year-old who told them that he lived with Richardson and that “inappropriate stuff” started happening to him when he was eight years old.
Police said the boy told them that Richardson forced him to perform sex acts on Richardson and that Richardson performed sex acts on the boy.
Police said the victim told them that Richardson struck him numerous times in the face and back and threw him against a wall. The victim told police that Richardson would hit him with a leather belt, sometimes using the metal buckle. The victim told police the beatings would leave his back bloodied and bruised and that his mouth would bleed.
Police said the victim told them that Richardson was drunk “24 hours a day seven days a week” and that he once saw Richardson performing a sex act on a young girl but that he doesn’t know the girl’s name.
Police said the victim told them that while sexually abusing him, Richardson would tell the victim that if the victim told anyone what he was doing, he would put the victim up for adoption and make sure he gets adopted by someone who would beat him.
Police said the victim told them that the abuse stopped when the victim was 10 years old after the victim told Richardson he was going to call the police and tell them what was going on.
Richardson was arraigned by Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger and placed in Blair County Prison on $250,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15 in front of Blattenberger.
