Youth Dies of Consumption

John Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stahl, north of Martinsburg, died on Thursday morning last week, aged 12 years, 8 months and 20 days. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. F. A. Rupley, D. D., were held in the Jugtown schoolhouse on Sunday morning. Deceased was ill for one year and his death was caused by consumption.
The officers of the congregation of the Lutheran church are completing arrangements to have the celebrated Dickinson College Glee Club give an entertainment for the benefit of the church on Wednesday evening January 5, 1898. This entertainment will be a rare musical treat for our people.
Widows of veterans will do well to be on their guard against a swindler who represents that he can have their pension increased. He charges a fee of $5 for preliminary expenses, and that is the last the widow sees or hears of him.
Not for years, and maybe never before, has there been as much candy shipped to this town for the holiday trade.
