Acker Delivers Weather

Local weather prognosticator George Acker delivered his forecast for 1998 to the Herald office. He based his forecast on eclipses of the sun and moon, among other things, such as how early the winter potatoes in storage sprout eyes. His forecast called for heavy snow in January, but the stormiest months would be April and July.

The Pennsylvania State Cooperative Extension service was offering three workshops on farming needs at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.
