Shooting Near Williamsburg

Jeffrey Lee Michael of Hollidaysburg RR was shot and killed by Pennsylvania state troopers after he went on a shooting rampage along Juniata River Road in Frankstown Township near Williamsburg. Michael was suspected of killing three people, one in the basement of the Juniata Valley Gospel Church and two others outside their residences. When confronted by police, Michaels began firing at the officers who returned the gunfire.

Douglas E. Mingle, co-owner of the Roaring Spring Department Store True Value, was beginning a two year term as chairman of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors. Mingle was the first business owner in southern Blair county to serve as chairman of the board.

Sharon Helsel was honored as the 2012 distinguished citizen by the Woodbury Area Community Center Board. Outgoing board president Ken Ott commended Helsel for the work she did scheduling events and assisting those reserving the center.
