Civic Club Holds Annual Christmas Tea

Linda Lang plays the piano as Charlotte Walker and Michael Merritts sing for the annual Civic Club's beloved Christmas Tea.

This year's theme was "Christmas in the Country." The red-truck themed-tea was held on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the United Methodist Church with over 35 ladies in attendance.

"This is great - my favorite part of the whole event is the fellowship," Civic Club member Sandy Norris said.

Robin Brantner agreed. "This event is something that I look forward to every year."

The event had special readings from group members, entertainment from Linda Lang, Charlotte Walker, and Michael Merritts, followed by a rousing singing of some crowd favorite Christmas carols lead by Dottie DuBois. After the invocation, the ladies were treated to goodies with tea or coffee.

"It's just so beautiful in here," member Cathy Over said. "It's also relaxing."

The Civic Club has been holding its annual Christmas Tea event since the 1970s. The tea started out in ladies' homes but moved to the Big Spring House and with the Royer Mansion before settling at the church.
