UPMC Altoona presented Blair County Sheriff's Office with Stop the Bleed kits, thanks to generosity from the Foundation and medical staff. It's aligned with Trauma Services efforts to educate on skills that are really lifesaving. Aside from organizations working together for the community's health and safety, it's also a good chance to tell the public this type of training exists, as Stop the Bleed has courses designed for them, too. The Blair County Sheriff's Office was recently presented with a donation of 12 Stop the Bleed kits on behalf of UPMC Altoona.
The Bleeding Control Kit (BCK) is designed to provide all necessary materials to treat and control up to six bleeding injuries out in the field. It aligns with training given by UPMC Altoona Trauma Services to prepare law enforcement as responders, who are at risk for personal injury and first at the scene for emergencies ranging from motor vehicle accidents to mass casualty events.
