Turning Trash Into Treasure: Trail Town Treasures Opens

It's often been said that someone's trash is another person's treasure. For Williamsburg resident Judy Hanna, this couldn't be more true.

The self-proclaimed "dumpster diver" enjoys turning someone else's trash into new and unique treasures.

"I just hate throwing stuff away," Hanna said. "There's a lot of stuff you can do with junk."

For Hanna, buying items at auctions and other sales is in her blood. She enjoys buying items and revamping them into something new. One of her favorite crafting projects include using old items such as chairs and turning them into flower pots.

This love of crafting blossomed even more when she met her husband, Dave. The pair always talked about opening up a consignment/craft place and always put their ideas to the back burner.

"We were definitely interested in the building," Hanna said referring to Mike Fay's shop located in the center of Williamsburg, the former Yeager's Carpeting complex.

Hanna, a truck driver by trade, was out on the road when she received a call from her husband. He said that Fay wanted to make a deal with them about the building. Hours later, Hanna's truck broke down.

"God shifted everything, and he put me where I should be."

Clearly, that place wasn't traveling from Maine to Florida anymore. The pair began cleaning out and organizing most of Fay's long-stored items and bringing in some of their own stuff, along with the items from the Be Radiant Boutique, which is housed in this building as well.

Thus, the Hanna's dream was born – Trail Town Treasures.

"We want to add on to the Trail Town mentality, Williamsburg means a lot to both of us," Hanna said.

The full name of the consignment shop came from a Facebook poll conducted by Hanna.

"Someone came up with it, and I just absolutely loved it," Hanna said.

Some might recognize Hanna and her crafting items from the Trail Town Market during the springs and summers in Williamsburg.

The store opened in late December of 2022.

"We currently have seven consigners and are accepting more," Hanna said. "But I just want to have a place where those who visit Williamsburg and who live here can browse and look at all the thousands of items we have, and appreciate them."
