Snider Homestead Farm took both the Guernsey grand and reserved grand championships at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. Hard Core Farm’s Fisher family swept the Milking Shorthorn competition.

Emergency personnel spent the evening of January 5 searching for two reported plane crashes in the area, only to find smoke from a burn barrel and a man burning tires. Blair County 911 received a call that a plane was on fire and crashed at the Altoona Blair County airport. Crews searched for the plane and debris, but only found smoke from a burn barrel along Route 164. Another caller reported a plane on fire near Dunnings Mountain. Crews again staged a search, following a smoke trail to burning tires. No signs of a crash were found in either instance.

The Elvis Presley memorial presentation at the Replogle building on January 12 was attended by about 150 people. Michael Hoover of Virginia portrayed Elvis.
