After Shutting Down for Winter, SCPR Looking Forward to Spring Events

The first meeting of Southern Cove Power Reunion was held on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. in the club house.

The secretary report was given by Melanie Clapper and approved. The treasury report and profit and loss comparison sheet were given by Amy Mellott and both were approved.

Banners at the track were taken down for the winter and the kitchen and bathrooms were winterized.

A budget had been set at last meeting to get electricity put into the new building and this process has been started. Also, a budget was set for materials needed to get the big engine donated by New Enterprise Stone and Lime for display running.

The PA system needs some work on the track, and this will be a work in progress.

The sled pan on the new sled will need repaired and will be done before the first tractor pull on April 15.

The pull back tractor used at pulls will also be getting some repairs.

The light show event held two weekends in December was larger this year with 30 participants. Horse drawn wagons were available. Ballots were given to all who participated to vote on their three favorite displays. The top three were presented with prizes. Complimentary hot chocolate and homemade cookies were provided. Santa was present as well as Bedford County Dairy Princess Lindsey Koontz, who handed out some goodies.

Food for Bedford County food banks was also collected.

On April 8, the kitchen will be open during Mark Wisecarver's sale.

Spring Plow Day & Tractor Show will be April 15, 2023. There will be plowing demonstrations, tractor parade, and the tractor pull will take place at 4 p.m. All sizes of tractors are welcome. Camping is available on show grounds.

Contact Jason Hileman at (814) 494-2388 or the Southern Cove Power Reunion Facebook for questions.

All pulls weigh in at 3 p.m. with the pull at 4 p.m. unless otherwise specified.
