Dessie Carpenter, the Herald's composing manager, attended the PA Farm Show on Friday. She snapped some photos on her trip, including the good-looking Holstein in the top left photo.

The photo above shows a farrowing crate display with newborn piglets.

According to the RSPCA, pig farrowing crates are barred metal crates within a pen where pregnant sows are placed shortly before giving birth. Farrowing crates prevent the sows from turning around and only allow them to move a little forwards and backwards.
