Loysburg was experiencing a typhoid fever scare, the epidemic being traced to polluted water. Five members of the Metzger family were taken to the Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, and Misses Grace and Helen Woodcock were patients at the Loysburg Hotel.

Workmen for the Penn Central Light and Power Company were hauling wire and other materials to the right of way on Tussey Mountain above Henrietta. The steel towers were expected to be put in place in the spring. The wires would carry current from the Penn Central plant in Saxton to Altoona and beyond.
