Students Planned a Program

Herald of Feb. 9, 1923

Students at the Martinsburg Grammar School planned a literary program to be given on Feb. 12, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Students were planning a debate of “Resolved, That Lincoln was a Greater Man than Washington.” On the affirmative side were Kenneth Bonebreak and John Henry Kensinger. On the negative side were Mary Alice Archey and Grace Bolger.

Mr. and Mrs. George W. Pennel of Loysburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 30 with a 15-pound cake. Many friends and relatives gathered to celebrate with them, some coming from as far as Philadelphia, New Jersey and Ohio. Mrs. Pennel was the former Kate Dittmar.

Miss Ruth Viola Sell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Sell of Roaring Spring became the bride of Charles W. Hiney of Roaring Spring. The wedding ceremony was held at the home of the bride and was performed by Rev. L. R. Holsinger of Martinsburg.
