Senior Breaks Record

A. J. Nastasi, a senior at Northern Bedford County High School, broke the state scoring record for high school basketball when he hit 3,609 points during a game against Everett.. The game was stopped for a 25 minute ceremony to honor the 18-year-old athlete. The game was played in Hollidaysburg to accommodate the expected crowd. Nastasi signed an agreement to play college football at West Virginia University earlier in the week.

Martinsburg Borough Council learned that a portion of the Tour De ‘Toona Bicycle race would be staged in the borough again during the summer. Council discussed the need for increasing the number of police officers present for the upcoming race.

The Claysburg-Kimmel wrestling team set a new team record for most dual-meet wins in a season at 13. Also, C-K senior standout Chris Musselman set a new school record for most wins in a season, reaching 100 wins on the same night that the dual-meet record was set.
