Camp Struck by Lightning

Herald of Feb. 8, 1972

The camp retreat center at Camp Blue Diamond near Petersburg was struck by lightning on Friday evening. The bolt hit two large pine trees, knocking one over and shattering the other. It entered the structure at a metal door and proceeded to the basement where it set floor joists, insulation and supplies on fire. Rev. Ralph Ebersole, camp manager, was able to extinguish the fire before it became serious.
