Grain Spread to Feed Wildlife

In an attempt to prevent local wildlife from starving in the sub-zero weather and heavy snows, 3,600 pounds of grain was distributed from the Blair County Airport at Martinsburg. The grain was scattered in areas where the terrain made ground travel difficult. Airplanes dropped 15 pound bags of grain that broke open when they struck trees, scattering the grain to the ground.

More than 95 percent of the farmers in the Bedford County section of the Cove are taking part in the war against rats. Orders have been received for 1,200 pounds of bait. It will be mixed in a con...
