Stuckey Presented with Chamber Award

Hollidaysburg businessman Matt Stuckey received the Donna D. Gority Servant Leadership Award at The Blair County Chamber of Commerce's 2023 Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation, which was held at The Casino at Lakemont Park on Jan. 27.

The award was created to recognize a person in the community who makes a difference by choosing to serve first and then lead. The award was designed to recognize people in the community who have accomplished great things while maintaining a relatively low profile.

Stuckey is a graduate of Leadership Blair County. He has served as president of Stuckey Automotive since 2003. Under his leadership, he has positioned the company to be the largest and fastest growing automotive group in Central Pennsylvania. Among his involvements, he is a board member of Mt. Aloysius College, The Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County and The Ford Dealer Advertising Federation. He serves as an advisory board member of UPMC Altoona, Penn State Altoona Sheetz Fellows and Penns Woods Band Corp. Stuckey has served on the board of directors of the Chamber and has served as the chairman of The Chamber's Young Entrepreneurs Academy Program for all seven years it's been in existence.

According to Stuckey, to become a good servant leader, you need to figure out what's in it forthe people who you're trying to serve. Figure out what makes them tick and what they're trying to achieve. If you can help them, the organization moves forward.

"It's an honor to be recognized with some of the people who received this award before," Stuckey said. "Donna Gority is a good friend of mine and mentor as well. She has helped me become a better leader over the years. So, to be recognized with this award is pretty cool."

The Chamber's President Joe Hurd said, "The annual meeting of the Chamber gives us an opportunity to look back at the accomplishments of the previous year and also to recognize individuals, who in one way or another accomplished something outstanding."

Some of the other awards include The Athena Award, which was given to Andrea Cohen of Blair Companies Real Estate and Lakemont Park. The George Award was presented to Kenneth Decker. The Joseph P. Rosenhamer Chamber Spirit Award was presented to Barb Smith of Teeter Group. Christine McGeary received the Judith A. Rossi Educator of the Year Award. The Small Business Person of the Year Award was awarded to Chris Cook from Cook's Painting & Renovations. The Young Professional of the Year Award recipient was Kirsten Stratton from KMS Interior Designs.
