Wrestlers from Central and Claysburg-Kimmel high schools qualified for the District 6 Class AA tournament at the Altoona Fieldhouse. Four area basketball teams were also going to districts. The Williamsburg boys and girls teams both qualified, as did the Central boys and Claysburg-Kimmel girls. The Central High Swim Team planned on attending the District 6 Swimming and Diving Championships in March at Penn State.

Dennis Feathers of the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company was named Fireman of the Month by the Allied Volunteer Firemen’s Association of Blair County. Feathers was serving as president of the Claysburg company, and had been with the company for forty years.

Thaddeus Russel, Cyrus Simmons and Caleb Allison of Williamsburg Cub Scout Pack 353 were the top three finishers in the pinewood derby at the elementary school. They were headed to a regional competition to be held at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in the summer.
