New Engines Ordered

Orders for five engines have been placed at the Juniata shops, Altoona. The new engines will be the heaviest on the Pennsylvania railroad system and will weigh something like 110 tons each. They are intended for heavy freight hauling.

The smoke house on the premises of Wm. Edward, West Martinsburg, was burned on Wednesday night. The meat of three hogs was destroyed.

The limestone business of the Williamsburg branch still continues to boom, the shipments some days reaching 200 cars.

The case of Sheriff James Martin and seventy-eight deputy sheriffs on trial for murder and felonious wounding, was called to trial in Luzerne County. There are 58 cases against each man for shooting and killing twenty men and wounding of some fifty others at Lattimer.. The victims were mostly foreign miners who were, with 9,000 others, on strike for higher wages.
