Amy Webster Announces Second Run For Blair Co. Commissioner

Blair County Commissioner Amy Webster has announced her candidacy for a second term surrounded by supporters. Webster, a Republican, is running on her experience, conservative values, and conservative voting record to cut government spending, improve budget efficiency, build local infrastructure, and protect gun rights in the county.

As Commissioner, Amy Webster voted against 100 percent of tax increases. Webster serves as the Commissioner liaison for several departments where she and her teams improved financial results.

Amy cites examples, “Fort Roberdeau has expanded activities, which increased their revenues, made improvements to the site, obtained grant funding for several projects, and partnered with private local businesses for services and events. My other departments have reduced costs by utilizing county staff instead of costly service providers.”

She focuses her efforts on analyzing the budget and her departments’ expenses, reviewing county contracts, and pursuing grants to improve the infrastructure in Blair County. Webster said, “The commissioners and staff worked to reduce the 2023 budget lower than 2022’s. We need to keep spending and taxes down to encourage local business growth and to give relief to our taxpayers, especially during the current high inflation. Many of our projects are financed by the use of various grants my departments and I have identified. I plan to use those grants for major infrastructure projects, focusing on roads, bridges, and broadband internet expansion, and to keep the budget under control. I will continue to pursue grants for county improvements as I have done as liaison for the 911 Call Center, Records Management, Sheriff’s Department, Highway Department, and the feasibility study for the prison.”

Webster has a 100 percent pro-Second Amendment voting record, supporting both the resolution in 2021 and the referendum in 2022. “I was the Republican commissioner who helped with the petitions for the referendum. I was glad that fellow Republican Commissioner Bruce Erb voted with me in favor of the Second Amendment referendum. Because of our vote, taxpayer resources cannot be used to infringe on our right to bear arms.

Commissioner Webster has been a Blair County attorney for over 40 years, and a real estate broker for nearly 10. Her experience and knowledge in both professions and as a local business owner have prepared her well for Commissioner responsibilities. In her first term as Commissioner, she gained extensive experience working on the county budget and reviewing government contracts and grants. Her Christian faith has instilled conservative values as demonstrated in her actions and worldview.
