Nearly 13 inches of heavy wet snow brought down power and telephone lines in the Cove. The storm began on Monday and lasted into the early hours of Tuesday. Most areas had power lines and phone lines repaired by Wednesday morning, except for the Clover Creek section of Woodbury Township.

Three area high school freshmen were selected to play soccer in the summer in one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in Manchester, England. Cody Gutshall of Northern Bedford and Matt Gortney and Shaun Robinson of Central were playing with the Cen-Penn team of Altoona.
