In January, 285 third-grade students in area schools were presented a flag etiquette and education program by the local D. Merl Tipton Post 43 VFW Auxiliary members. These members visited Williamsburg Elementary, Northern Bedford County Elementary, Martinsburg Elementary, and Claysburg Elementary Schools to educate the third graders on the importance of proper use and etiquette of the American flag.

The program began with a brief history of the flag, highlighting the Grand Union flag and the Continental Congress that adopted the American flag as its national living symbol on June 14, 1777....
