Fight for the Championship

With 15 victorious stings to their credit, Roaring Spring High School’s Yellow Jackets will try buzzing another team tonight on their championship basketball flight. The Yellow Jackets will meet the Cherry Tree High School five this Thursday night at St. Francis College, Loretto.

Work began yesterday on the construction of a new funeral home for K. R. Miller of Martisburg. An addition will be built on the rear of the present Miller home. The first floor will be equipped as a spacious funeral home, and an apartment will be constructed on the second floor. Fred Ebersole is the building contractor.

Bert’s Beauty Shop, Locust Street, Martinsburg will mark its fifteenth anniversary this week. A new Nestle’s permanent wave machine was added in time for the anniversary celebration. Mrs. Kenneth Gates, proprietor, is a graduate of Olmes School of Beauty Culture, Altoona.

John Hoover Brumbaugh, a resident of North Market Street, observed his ninety-first birthday anniversary.
