Catharine Looks at Oak Alley Petitions

A small crowd and a signed petition highlighted the Catharine Township meeting, on Thursday, Feb. 16. The small crowd was made up of neighbors and residents in and around the Oak Alley area of the township, all signing a petition and airing their complaints about a resident on Oak Alley. Complaints stemmed from working late at night to tearing up the alley with equipment. Solicitor Nathan Karn was in attendance at the meeting, and he said he would look into next steps as to how to pursue the situation.

The township would like to take over Riverfront Drive from PennDOT. However, they are not sure of the 16-foot cartway needed for the road, and the cost of the cartway and improvements. Before the township spends any money, they agreed to meet with PennDOT to see if it would be worth their time.

A few months ago, an incident occurred with a dog and a child in the township. Since then, questions have arisen about a possible dog ordinance. Following discussion, Solicitor Karn has sent Chairman Heather Flaig some samples of an ordinance, and further discussion will be held at the March meeting.

Roadmaster Michael Fay is still looking for estimates for a sign in front of the township building. At first, supervisors were looking for a sign to hang on the side of the building, but then wanted a sign that was near the road. Fay will look into more estimates for the March meeting. Fay said he is still looking for a new truck to replace the old one which is in need of a lot of repairs. Fay updated Supervisors that he is conducting road inspections at the end of February and early March and will present findings at the March meeting.
