Fundraiser Held

A fundraising event held at the Replogle School in New Enterprise raised $39,500 for Brooke Slick, who was hoping to travel to Russia for treatment for multiple sclerosis. Community members donated items that were auctioned off by Larry Beach.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced plans to hold a public meeting on Chronic Wasting Disease at the Spring Cove Middle School Auditorium. Game Commission staff wanted to update the public on CWD and the challenges for managing CWD in the free-ranging deer population Three hunter-harvested deer from Blair and Bedford counties tested positive, the first confirmed cases in free-ranging deer in the state.

Nason Hospital announced it would begin providing digital mammograms. The new method provided incredibly sharp images and the image was available in a matter of seconds, since no film developing was involved. The hospital hoped the new technology would encourage more women to get yearly exams.
