Long Time Teacher Retires

The Northern Bedford School board accepted with regret the retirement-resignation of long time teacher and wrestling coach Rodney Hoover. Hoover was employed as a physical education and health teacher in the district for 32 years, and coached for 30 years.

Matthew Brumbaugh, a junior French major at Saint Francis College in Loretto, has returned from studying at the American University in Paris in France. In addition to his studies, Matthew traveled extensively and lived with a French family.

The Roaring Spring Business and Professional Women’s Club honored Melissa Bookhammer as its 1998 Woman of the Year. She joined the BPW in 1989 and served as an officer, committee chair and delegate to local, district and state BPW meetings.

Homewood at Martinsburg purchased a new Ford minibus to allow more residents to participate in group outings such as dinners, concerts and sightseeing.
